Tips on taking care of your flowers

Choose a Tip :
  1. Bulb Plant
  2. Rose Arrangement
  3. Fresh Cut Roses
  4. Tulips

Bulb Plant

Bulb plants will flower normally under a wide range of light conditions.
Moderately mosit soil is preferred. Allow soil serface to feel dry before watering thoroughly. Drain excess water in saucer at base of pot to prevent root rot and protect furniture.

Cool temperatures are ideal: 60-60*F (15-18*C) day-times. Avoid excessive heat or cold.

To ennjoy in your garden in future years, place pot in well-lighted, cool area (50-55*F/10-13*C) and keep moist after flowering. When stems and leaves are no longer green, cut them off. In mid-spring, plant bulbs outdoors in a sunny area with well-drained soil. Note: years to re-flower will depend upon size of bulbs and local climatic conditions.

KEY TIP FOR SUCCESS: A cool environment at night (50-60*F/10-15*C) will help to extend t he flowering period while plant is indoors.

Rose Arrangement

Immediately upon arrival, check water level and add warm water (100*F/38*C) if needed. Use floral preservative; keep water level high in the vase daily. Arranging foam should always be kept saturated.

Display roses in cool location out of direct sun. Avoid excessively hot or cold areas.

If a rose wilts, submit entire flower and stem in tub or tray of warm water (100*F/38*C) and straighten. Cut 2" from end of stem under water. Allow rose about 2 hours under water to revive. Another option: float the bloom in a bowl.

Display rose in cool location, out of direct sun; avoid excessive heat or cold.

KEY TIPS FOR SUCCESS: Re-cut stem ends under water. Keep vase full of water; use floral preservative. Display in cool area.

Fresh Cut Roses

Immediately upon arrival, remove foliage which would be below water line in your arrangement. Avoid injuring stem bark.

Re-cut stems at an angle under water with sharp knife. Place roses in clean, deep container filled with warm water (100*F/38*C) and floral preservative. Condition roses for 2 to 4 hours in cool location.

To arrange, use a clean vase with ample water capacity. (Roses are thirsty flowers!) Keep vase full by adding water with floral preservative daily. If arranging foam is used, insert stems firmly. Keep foam saturated daily.

Tulips

When putting tulips in a vase a good tip to keeping them from drooping is to put pennies in the bottom of the vase this will keep them standing up straight.
